I thought this was a really interesting mix of resources coming together for a tourism campaign.  Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan has posted a twitvid promoting a contest:   Twisit Jordan.

The premise of the contest is simple – it’s a tourist swap.  Two foreigners to Jordan will be chosen to visit Jordan, and two Jordanians will win trips to the foreigners’ home countries.  The rules of the contest are also simple:  make and upload a video answering the question “Why do you want to visit Jordan”?    And of course, don’t forget to label your entry with@QueenRania and #TwisitJordan. The two best videos will be chosen for the swap.  Contest runs from July 15, to August 4, 2010.

Maybe it’s because I love to travel, but I think this campaign is brilliant.  Combine royalty, a tourism marketing agenda and the power of twitter to leverage user generated content…and you have a mass marketing campaign for virtually peanuts.  And what’s more, it’s FUN.

It’s early days yet, but it’ll be interesting to see just how far the contest spreads.  I’m planning on posting a video myself (which I will post up on tbridge)…and I’ll let you know if I win :0)
